Sometimes this photorealistic minecraft resource pack seems to change the game so much that it's not like minecraft anymore. The LodeCraft Resource Pack does not fit into this category. It's a modest, simple but enjoyable resource pack that goes back to the basics. When they say less is more, LodeCraft is a perfect example of that expression, as it looks and feels like Minecraft, but at the same time it's darker, a little creepier, and rejuvenating at the same time. The LodeCraft resource pack was released a few years ago and is still unfinished. At its core, it's a fantasy-style resource pack that comes with new textures, or skins, if you will, for various pieces of armor, weapons, items, and mobs. There are also new decorative items such as new paintings, chests, fences, doors, torches and so on. Some players have pointed out that the resource pack has a certain vibe that is reminiscent of old games like Doom and Hexen.

This is mainly due to the addition of more gray textures and a darker tone. Since Hexen was set in a medieval world, the similarity is obvious. LodeCraft's resource pack changes many existing textures to fit well with the medieval setting, allowing players to build amazing buildings from the era, such as castles, cathedrals, dungeons and so on. In addition to visuals, the LodeCraft texture pack can make textures sharper thanks to its increased texture resolution. While vanilla Minecraft uses 16x textures, LodeCraft has 32x textures. This means twice as many pixels per block or twice as much detail. There is also less scatter and better lighting effects that require the use of a shader pack. Some will care that the 32x resolution of the textures used in LodeCraft doesn't make it a resource. It runs almost as well as vanilla Minecraft.
LodeCraft should be compatible with all of these Minecraft versions: 1.10.2 – 1.10 – 1.9.4 – 1.9 – 1.8.9 – 1.8.8 – 1.8.1 – 1.8.6 – 1.8
