If we look back a decade, there weren’t many resource packs that attempted to bring more realism to Minecraft. The Outdoorsy Realism Resource Pack is one of the first to try to improve the textures in the game and increase the resolution. It is now almost a decade old and remains a popular resource despite not having been updated for several years. Since it hasn’t been updated in a while, the source pack is playable on Minecraft versions 1.6.X and 1.7.X. Players using different versions will need to switch to one of these two versions. The resource pack moves away from the default 16x texture resolution in Minecraft and moves to 64x. Thanks to the increased resolution, there is now more detail on every single block or object in the game.
While not everything has changed, most of the textures in the game look more realistic. The resource pack features new weapons, armor, new particle effects for water and water splashes, atmospheric biomes, new rain and thunder effects, and many new textures for blocks and items. Some interesting features of the resource pack include improved villagers’ textures, which are now more realistic. The original developer also worked on the mobs and added a new slenderman skin that is both cool and scary. These visuals are just one part of the improvements that the Outdoorsy Realism resource set brings to Minecraft. It also adds new music and new sound effects. It also messes with the player’s GUI and HUD, making it easier to manage the inventory system. The source pack also adds a new main menu screen and new icon textures.
Outdoorsy Realism should be compatible with all of these Minecraft versions: 1.7.10 - 1.7.9 - 1.7.4 - 1.7 - 1.6.4 - 1.6.2

How to install Outdoorsy Realism Resource Pack:
- Most source packages require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – a general recommended step for all packages, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
- Download the Outdoorsy Realism texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of minecraft that you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
- Launch the game client via the Minecraft launcher.
- Click “Options” in the main menu.
- Click on “Resource Packs…” from the options menu.
- Click “Open Resource Pack Folder”. – a folder named “resourcepacks” will appear.
- Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step into the newly opened “resourcepacks” folder.
- Click “Done”.
- Click on “Resource Pack…” again.
- Your package should appear in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it doesn’t affect your game in any way and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by just clicking “Yes” when prompted.
- Click “Done” again.
- The package has now been successfully loaded and is ready to use in your world!
