Minecraft's vanilla visual art style is iconic, making it one of the most recognizable games in history. Although it can be described as cartoony, the game still appeals to many. Sky Photo Realism Resource Pack aims to move things up a bit while maintaining the game's core visual style. It comes as a graphical upgrade that attempts to bring more realism to the game. It combines several discrete gameplay changes that add up to a stunning visual overhaul. The first major update that the source pack introduces are textures with higher quality and resolution. The coloring has been changed to have toned down colors and more shades to remove some of the cartoony effects that the default textures have. Textures have been upgraded on almost all types of terrain environmental blocks, in an effort to enhance everything you see in the game. The textures weren't overloaded with detail, but they have less noise and look much brighter. The 512x version of the Sky Photo Realism texture pack is recommended for the best visual effects.

It is the most resource intensive of all versions and can lead to frame rate drops. Better gaming performance can be achieved by using the 256x or 128x version of the resource pack. Since the source pack changes the texture so much in the game, players with older computers may experience significant frame rate drops. Finally, the Sky Photo Realism resource pack uses shader packs to achieve higher texture quality and less noise. GLSL Shadery or Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shadery is recommended to be installed alongside the source pack. Thanks to them, the terrain and objects in the game will look much sharper, and at the same time they will improve the lighting effects. Both the shaders and the Sky Photo Realism resource pack require Optifine to be installed. With Optifine you will need to go to options, select a resource pack and open the resource packs folder. You will then need to move the resource pack archive into this folder. If you want to go from the 512x version to the 256x version of the Sky Photo Realism resource set, you'll need to do it through Optifine.

How to install Sky Photo Realism Resource Pack:

Most source packages require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – a general recommended step for all packages, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
Download the Sky Photo Realism texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of minecraft that you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
Launch the game client via the Minecraft launcher.
Click “Options” in the main menu.
Click on “Resource Packs…” from the options menu.
Click “Open Resource Pack Folder”. – a folder named “resourcepacks” will appear.
Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step into the newly opened “resourcepacks” folder.
Click “Done”.
Click on “Resource Packs…” again.
Your package should appear in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it doesn't affect your game in any way and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by just clicking “Yes” when prompted.
Click “Done” again.
The package has now been successfully loaded and is ready to use in your world!
