Bewitched Resource Pack 1.21 / 1.20

What caught me off guard with the Bewitched Resource Pack is how well it mixes spooky visuals with a surprisingly playful, almost cartoon-like style. I’ve tried plenty of Halloween-inspired packs that simply make everything darker, but Bewitched takes a more creative route. It combines gothic, comic-book, and RPG influences while keeping Minecraft’s familiar pixelated identity intact. The result feels noticeably different without making the game look like an entirely different title, which is probably the biggest reason the pack stands out.

The ore redesign is one of the first changes you’ll notice underground. Instead of sitting completely flat against the stone, the ore textures have a raised, almost 3D appearance when viewed from certain angles. Different ores have their own shapes and levels of depth, which gives mining areas more character and makes valuable blocks easier to recognize. The color palette is also much more expressive than you might expect from a spooky pack, mixing muted grays with blood-red, yellow, and purple tones. I particularly liked the custom paintings, which fit the atmosphere much better than the default artwork. Mobs have received their own darker makeover as well, making creatures feel considerably more intimidating, especially when you’re exploring at night.

The Nether is probably the one area that feels less impressive to me, mainly because its red-heavy environment doesn’t contrast as strongly with the rest of the pack. That’s subjective, though, and some players may actually prefer the more subdued look. Bewitched uses 32×32 textures, so it’s still relatively lightweight compared with 64x or 128x packs, but older systems may experience FPS drops or occasional crashes. OptiFine isn’t strictly required, but I’d recommend using it because some textures may not load correctly without the additional support, and it can help with performance. There can also be conflicts involving the custom font, particularly with certain shaders or graphics setups. If you run into strange text boxes or font problems, disabling shaders or removing the pack’s font folder can help, although you’ll lose the custom font. Since the pack is still under development, some rough edges are expected. If you’re willing to overlook those occasional issues, Bewitched offers a genuinely distinctive mix of spooky atmosphere, colorful cartoon visuals, and RPG-style design.
