T-Craft Realistic Resource Pack 1.18 / 1.17

There are so many resource packs for Minecraft that many hidden gems have fallen under the radar. The T-Craft Realistic Resource Pack is one such example. With the flood of photorealistic resource packs, seeing something more balanced is like a breath of fresh air. Not everyone likes a resource pack that places textures close to real photo quality on sharp-edged blocks. T-Craft is anything but that. It's what some would call an improvement on the standard textures and detail levels we all know from vanilla Minecraft. Despite the misleading name and what some resource pack descriptions might claim, the T-Craft Realistic texture pack is a combination of high-resolution textures and textures derived from real photos. The developer of the resource pack claims that the resource pack uses textures created in Gimp using real photos. This realism is only visible in a few textures such as pebble stone, limestone, tree bark, some flowers, sand and a few others. Also introduced are several new paintings that are actual photographs. The textures on the blocks, although made from real photos, are anything but photorealistic. Not all textures in the resource pack have photo realism. They can be seen here and there, but they are not distracting or out of place. One such example is apples. They are small objects with textures taken from photos and are easy to miss if you are not looking for these specific photorealistic textures.

These small tweaks offer a significant improvement over the original visuals in Minecraft. One of the things that makes the T-Craft Realistic resource pack so recommended is the resolution. It's a 64x resource pack, which means it doesn't require a monster computer to run smoothly and make the image well-known. Pixelation on various textures is reduced. While it removes some of the cartoony aspects of vanilla Minecraft, it stays true to the original visuals. T-Craft still has a cartoony feel despite the numerous texture changes and upscale resolution. Considerable effort has been invested in improving the overall atmosphere of the game. Textures are more vivid with fewer shades of gray and more intense colors. The water textures have been improved and the lighting is significantly better. It's a resource pack that simply brightens up Minecraft and does it in a very enjoyable way. Compared to more modern resource packs, T-Craft does not use any kind of shaders. While it can work with shader packs, it will cause severe performance degradation if you are running Minecraft on an older system. For shaders and resource packs with high resolution textures, you'll need a powerful machine if you want it to run smoothly. The T-Craft Realistic resource pack runs fine as is without any additional tweaks. Needless to say, compared to 16x resolution on vanilla Minecraft, 64x resolution in T-Craft causes some marginal performance degradation. It should be noted that the resource pack was released 9 years ago and is still not complete.
