While most resource packs attempt to increase texture resolution to provide better visual effects, Retro Pompeii Resource Pack uses a different approach. Reduces texture resolution to 8×8 from default 16×16. Surprisingly, this doesn't make the game blockier than vanilla Minecraft, even though the level of detail on each texture has been reduced. With clever use of color and reworked textures, the resource pack offers a new experience for purists looking for a resource pack inspired by the ancient city of Pompeii. In order to build worlds and structures that resemble the architecture of the cities of the ancient Roman empires, many textures have been changed. The Retro Pompeii texture pack doesn't just lower the texture resolution. Some of them have been remodeled.

Blocks that previously only had one solid color as a texture now have more detail. There are new colors for existing blocks and new blocks. This can be seen in the huge amount of stone and brick blocks that can be used to build structures. The textures, which were not changed much, had improved colors and offered a wider palette of colors to help build more vivid structures and worlds. There is a new texture for grass, trees, leaves, flowers, water, decorative elements and many more. Retro Pompeii also adds several new things to the game such as paper, potatoes, poison potatoes, primary crystals, pumpkin pie, cooked and raw pork chops and many more. Being an 8x resolution texture pack, Retro Pompei also makes Minecraft less resource intensive. The game will run very smoothly with the source pack installed. With stable and high framerates, the resource pack is also PVP friendly.

How to install the Retro Pompeii Resource Pack:

Most source packages require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – a general recommended step for all packages, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
Download the Retro Pompeii texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of minecraft that you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
Launch the game client via the Minecraft launcher.
Click “Options” in the main menu.
Click on “Resource Packs…” from the options menu.
Click “Open Resource Pack Folder”. – a folder named “resourcepacks” will appear.
Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step into the newly opened “resourcepacks” folder.
Click “Done”.
Click on “Resource Packs…” again.
Your package should appear in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it doesn't affect your game in any way and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by just clicking “Yes” when prompted.
Click “Done” again.
The package has now been successfully loaded and is ready to use in your world!
