The Prometheus source package is a unique futuristic sci-fi horror experience that was designed based on the famous film Prometheus from the popular Alien franchise. It contains terrifying elements from the original film, which was groundbreaking and rose to the ranks of horror classics. It remains popular to this day and has spawned various sequels. Prometheus Source Pack, which is based on such a novel movie, brings a very similar atmosphere to the movie. The developers have completely reworked Minecraft to resemble the movie, making whatever world it’s set in indistinguishable from the base game. Changes include popular characters (both antagonists and protagonists), aliens in the form of redesigned mobs, and GUI system upgrades. Even if we were to throw away all the horror aspects, the Prometheus texture pack is one of the best packs to install if you’re trying to create a futuristic world in Minecraft. High-end design and various intricate details intertwine to fully immerse players in their world.
The graphical interface enhancements make the game identical to the movie and enhance the sci-fi feel that the package brings. Being able to completely ignore the pack aspect without it feeling unfinished is rare, but the Prometheus deck does it. It is able to deliver both horror and sci-fi in one convenient package. If you’re the type of player who wants an intergalactic adventure instead of focusing on building a homestead or working on basic survival, then the Prometheus Resource Pack is the perfect addition to your Minecraft world. These core gameplay elements are still included even when the pack is installed, but the futuristic changes to the world make Minecraft feel like a whole new game. Bright lights, glowing metals, and techy-looking blocks are part of the Prometheus resource pack. It has a resolution of 32 x 23, which is slightly more than the usual 16 x 16 that Minecraft runs on. This should not result in a noticeable performance drop as the textures are well optimized so the pack should run smoothly on all systems that can handle vanilla Minecraft.

How to install Prometheus Resource Pack:
- Most source packages require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – a general recommended step for all packages, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
- Download the Prometheus texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of minecraft that you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
- Launch the game client via the Minecraft launcher.
- Click “Options” in the main menu.
- Click on “Resource Packs…” from the options menu.
- Click “Open Resource Pack Folder”. – a folder named “resourcepacks” will appear.
- Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step into the newly opened “resourcepacks” folder.
- Click “Done”.
- Click on “Resource Pack…” again.
- Your package should appear in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it doesn’t affect your game in any way and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by just clicking “Yes” when prompted.
- Click “Done” again.
- The package has now been successfully loaded and is ready to use in your world!
