Many resource packs have been developed around the theme of Christmas. While most are cheerful and colorful, they cater to a younger audience The Nightmare Before Christmas brings a whole new twist. It combines elements that would seem more appropriate for a Halloween-themed resource pack, but with a Christmas theme. The result is a dark Christmas theme based on the Tim Burton film of the same name. Developer Jsoft challenged their creativity by creating this unique Minecraft resource pack that completely changes the look of vanilla. The source pack uses the same resolution as the default vanilla Minecraft. When using 16x textures, the resource pack does not affect game performance. Players with old systems can still enjoy the resource pack without any problems. However, the resource pack looks better with shaders that add a bit of blur, making the world that much creepier. Looking at the visual changes, the texture pack brings a few new textures for a few blocks. It also adds new blocks and items such as scary paintings, new windows, green flames and fire, Halloween pumpkins, new darker colored plants and flowers that look almost dead, and tons of other items.

In addition to items, the resource pack also adds new mobs, such as a tall figure that resembles Slenderman. There are also over 40 player skins that range from a Santa Claus skeleton to a zombie, a scarecrow, and many more. Despite all these amazing visual upgrades, the resource pack has only had a few tens of thousands of downloads since its release, nearly a decade ago. Sure, they deserve a lot more. The Nightmare Before Christmas texture pack also touches on items such as armor, weapons, and particle effects. To accommodate the new weapons and armor, the player's HUD has been improved and has a darker color. The main menu has also changed, now with darker colors and a spooky atmosphere. All of these changes, along with the fact that this is a 16x resolution resource pack, make it PvP friendly. It doesn't need a powerful system to run properly at decent FPS. The installation of the resource pack can be done with Optifine HD because it uses its special features. Some of these features include new textures for the sky, clouds, and a larger moon that fit perfectly with the overall theme of the resource pack. The source pack also works very well without shaders, but a shader is recommended for a creepier blurry look.

How to install the Nightmare Before Christmas Resource Pack:

Most source packages require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – a general recommended step for all packages, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
Download the Nightmare Before Christmas texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of minecraft that you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
Launch the game client via the Minecraft launcher.
Click “Options” in the main menu.
Click on “Resource Packs…” from the options menu.
Click “Open Resource Pack Folder”. – a folder named “resourcepacks” will appear.
Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step into the newly opened “resourcepacks” folder.
Click “Done”.
Click on “Resource Pack…” again.
Your package should appear in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it doesn't affect your game in any way and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by just clicking “Yes” when prompted.
Click “Done” again.
The package has now been successfully loaded and is ready to use in your world!
