Not everyone wants a texture pack that makes Minecraft unrecognizable. The Purepixel's Rubix resource pack is a great example of how a few simple tweaks over the vanilla version of the game can make Minecraft much better. Starting with the in-game visuals and sounds, the Rubix texture pack is a great alternative for those who are tired of vanilla Minecraft but don't want to stray too far from it. The first and most noticeable change the resource pack brings is better bounces. The water looks much better. This is also a result of the color tuning of the textures. Colors that seemed dull and washed out are now brighter. For simplicity, the resource pack uses the same texture for gems, but with different colors.

This may seem like cheating to some, as mining in low light can make it difficult to distinguish them. In normal light, you can detect them much easier thanks to the new textures. The textures that have been reworked are much cleaner and have a very simplistic tone reminiscent of how the old Mario game worlds looked. Players looking to try Purepixel's Rubix Source Pack should be aware that the Source Pack does not introduce new mobs or mob textures. The source pack uses simple textures at 16x resolution. This allows older computers to run it without any performance degradation. If you can run vanilla Minecraft, you should also enjoy Purepixel's Rubix resource. The package is very compact in terms of file size and very easy to install. It can be installed like any other source pack and does not require any shader pack.
Rubix should be compatible with all of these versions of Minecraft: 1.8.9 – 1.8.8 – 1.8.1 – 1.8.6 – 1.8 – 1.7.10 – 1.7.9 – 1.7.4 – 1.7
