rotrBLOCKS Resource Pack 1.21 / 1.20

The rotrBLOCKS resource package is one of many that upscales Minecraft’s textures. The resource pack accomplishes this better than most, which emphasize realism, a vanilla theme, and more detail. The resource bundle is promising and in development. Despite its youth, it improves visuals. The community has praised rotrBLOCKS’ intricacy, texturing, and 3D models since its early 2021 debut. User jekruy made the texture pack. rotrBLOCKS means Replace Reality Blocks. The resource bundle makes many game graphics photorealistic, hence its name. Based on the Faithful resource pack, rotrBLOCKS does not alter textures. Despite adding pixels, the color palettes and texture design remain the same. This adds detail, so instead of everything seeming boxy, you can see more as you approach game elements. RotrBlocks retains some familiarity but looks better than ever. Still Minecraft, but better. RotrBLOCKS improves the game’s trees, flowers, grass, and other vegetation by making them look more natural. They look more realistic with additional textures and details. Despite the blocks’ square shape and limited polygon count, the updated textures make them look like 3D models. Stone now has fissures, wood textures are more detailed, sand grains are visible, and shadows are smoother. All these features require a PBR/POM shader package. The author suggests BSL shaders.

Without lighting adjustments, the increased detail wouldn’t stand up. Daytime glare, noise, and fogging are decreased. The clouds are no longer blocky. The source pack launched in early 2021, therefore development is accelerated to add as many blocks and textures as feasible. New in the newest version are Red Sandstone, Sandstone, Redstone Lamps, a workbench, Birch, Oak, Jungle, and Spruce leaves, a furnace, and various wooden planks. Remember that rotrBLOCKS is a PRB/POM subproject. Replace of the Reality Blocks resource pack author jekruy is releasing a free 256x version. The texture pack has 512x and 1024x versions for extra detail. This is far better than vanilla Minecraft’s 16x resolution. The main drawback is that higher texture resolution uses more resources. Even the 256x version decreases frame rate on older systems. Modern systems should support 512x and 256x. Even the most powerful systems may struggle to run rotrBLOCKS at 1024x. The 512x and 1024x resource packs are only available on Patreon. Supporters can access them by membership. Funds support creators and provide members voting power. Members vote on features and improvements and get updates first. Optifine characteristics like CTM are used in rotrBLOCKS for distinct block types. For better Minecraft lighting and noise reduction, Optifine HD and a BSL shader pack are suggested. The source pack is now accessible for Minecraft 1.12.x and higher, per the update.

All Minecraft versions should work with rotrBLOCKS: 1.21 – 1.20.6 – 1.20.5 – 1.20.4 – 1.20.3 – 1.20.2 – 1.20.1 – 1.20 – 1.19.4 – 1.19.3 – 1.19.2 – 1.19.1 – 1.19 – 1.18.2 – 1.18.1 – 1.18 – 1.17.1 – 1.17 – 1.16.5 – 1.16.4 – 1.16.3 – 1.16.2 – 1.16.1 – 1.16 – 1.15.2 – 1.15.1 – 1.15 – 1.14.4 – 1.14.3 – 1.14.2 – 1.14 – 1.13.2 – 1.13.1 – 1.13
