Don't be fooled by its name – the Datal resource package it does not focus exclusively on birds. Instead, it reworks the game and gives it a medieval rustic feel. The woodpecker is unique and distinctive due to the varying amount of colors per block. Instead of each block being constant, it can have a texture of four or more different colors. This unusual feature greatly enhances the atmosphere of the game and nicely mimics shader pack effects without negatively impacting performance. Each area will be unique even if it is made of the same blocks. Another pleasant surprise is the resolution of the woodpeckers, which remains faithful to the original at 16×16. While other resource packs usually have a set image for each texture along with colors, Woodpecker brings different color layouts for each specific block. While some similarities can be noted between certain blocks, many are completely different.

These significant variations between colors are able to give the illusion of much greater resolution than the Datel actually offers. Although this resource pack is still in development, most of the unfinished stuff is related to mobs, items and icons – the blocks are almost completely finished. In addition to the main game stuff, Datel offers a complete overhaul of the layout of the inventory, crafting and magic tables, storage, etc. The main drawback is the absence of any updates and changes to the game paintings. The deck seems to focus more on the actual gameplay elements you'll encounter most often, which is pretty common for medieval themed decks. A unique color palette implementation, a brand new GUI along with a lightweight 16×16 resolution that won't affect performance on even the oldest of PCs more than make up for the lack of any new visuals. Overall, the woodpecker is a solidly built, lightweight resource package.

How to install Woodpecker Resource Pack:

Most source packages require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – a general recommended step for all packages, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
Download the Woodpecker texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of minecraft that you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
Launch the game client via the Minecraft launcher.
Click “Options” in the main menu.
Click on “Resource Packs…” from the options menu.
Click “Open Resource Pack Folder”. – a folder named “resourcepacks” will appear.
Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step into the newly opened “resourcepacks” folder.
Click “Done”.
Click on “Resource Pack…” again.
Your package should appear in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it doesn't affect your game in any way and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by just clicking “Yes” when prompted.
Click “Done” again.
The package has now been successfully loaded and is ready to use in your world!
