If you're a fan of game-changing decks that leave no stone unturned, look no further than Modern HD source pack. As the name suggests, all the textures in this pack draw inspiration from the realistic and modern world to transform Minecraft into a whole new experience. Although modern HD is over 10 years old, it is still popular today. Building modern architecture doesn't look too appealing on medieval-themed packs that seem to be overtaking the Minecraft scene. All textures have received a huge overhaul. The kits are characterized by a clean, uniform appearance, which is why they complement each other perfectly. Natural blocks like cobblestones, stone, wood and more have been given a realistic touch. There are no imperfections and even elements like the sky and water have been specially created to match this overall look. A modern HD texture pack can implement these adjustments quite well and without overdoing it, as you can still distinguish between blocks and know exactly which one is which. When it comes to block changes, you'll probably notice that the images are different. The developer has taken inspiration from some modern styles to create different images that you can very well find in a common person's home. There are some major changes that may surprise you. For example, the chests look like modern drawers, and the laptop/jukebox block has been changed to represent a giant speaker. All of these tweaks are more than enough to help you create a modern building with modern rooms that you could only dream of with vanilla textures. You may be surprised to find that the glass is made completely transparent, which can be used to create some very creative and attractive displays. For example, you can combine this feature with the Aquatic update to create an aquarium that can serve as decoration for your home. You could also create skylights and modern windows with it without the annoying lines from the vanilla game.

All the additions show that the options with this package are truly endless and it's up to you how many of those options you end up using. Another massive change is the GUI. As soon as you step into your inventory, you'll notice that it comes with a modern, sleek style. The overlay features a metallic grey/white base with black lettering with certain GUI elements such as your armor reaching different colors. Even the font, as well as the buttons, seem to be different, which is not very common for packs. These GUI changes apply to all components that contain it – furnaces, chests, anvils, etc. Since this resource pack is primarily for building, the mobs are almost identical to their original textures. This should come as no surprise as it is quite difficult to make mobs look realistic or modern. However, you will be able to hunt them on much nicer nights. Modern HD presents a very bright full moon along with many stars that will completely transform the atmosphere that the night brings. There are even some new custom sounds that have been created to further enhance the player experience. Resource packs that focus on providing modern looking textures usually only come in massive resolutions of 128×128 and above – but the Modern HD pack is different. No matter how bad your hardware is, chances are you'll still have satisfactory performance that won't ruin your experience. The resolution of the pack is 64×64, which isn't much of an upgrade over the vanilla 16×16. Optifine is also not required for Modern HD to work properly, but you can still add it to your game and squeeze out a few extra FPS. If you want to add more style to your builds, you can add custom shaders to the deck. There is no official support for them, but they seem to work well alongside some of the more popular releases like SEUS and Nostalgia.
