As you can probably guess from the name, Source pack for Minetroid is trying to implement some elements of the Metroid games – Nintendo’s popular franchise – and implement them into the world of Minecraft. The highly acclaimed series, whose protagonist is a space mercenary named Samus Aran, has achieved worldwide fame and won the affection of millions of fans. With over 11 installments and a variety of character models, the odds are more than favorable for a top-notch resource pack. Similar to Minecraft, the franchise is adventure-based with a focus on exploration. There have been many different attempts to bring Metroid’s atmosphere and overall feel to Minecraft, but none of them come close to the level of detail that Minetroid is capable of providing. The space-themed textures have a grainy, almost futuristic feel and exude a robotic vibe.

It manages to perfectly replicate the duller atmosphere, which is exactly what a source pack of this caliber should strive for. It’s hard to imagine the old-school feel of Metroid fitting Minecraft, but Minetroid pulls it off flawlessly. You’d be hard-pressed to find any element of the game that hasn’t been reworked with some aspect of this timeless classic, including mobs, weapons, tools, armor, items, etc. A surprise addition is Metroid’s overhaul of Visor’s HUD. Prime – Activates as soon as you insert the pumpkin into the helmet slot. However, since Minetroid is only a source pack, the HUD is simply a visual appeal. All these features won’t cost you a single frame drop; believe it or not, Minetroid textures are exactly the same dimensions as the original resource pack – 16×16. As long as your PC can handle the vanilla game, you’ll have no problem fighting Golems, Space Pirates, Ings, and other baddies that come your way.

How to install Minetroid Resource Pack:

Most source packages require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – a general recommended step for all packages, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
Download the Minetroid texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of minecraft that you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
Launch the game client via the Minecraft launcher.
Click “Options” in the main menu.
Click on “Resource Packs…” from the options menu.
Click “Open Resource Pack Folder”. – a folder named “resourcepacks” will appear.
Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step into the newly opened “resourcepacks” folder.
Click “Done”.
Click on “Resource Pack…” again.
Your package should appear in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it doesn’t affect your game in any way and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by just clicking “Yes” when prompted.
Click “Done” again.
The package has now been successfully loaded and is ready to use in your world!
