Creating a Mario inspired resource pack is not considered very creative. It’s nothing that hasn’t been done before. Many resource packs have been created with the same theme, but with Project Mario hand drawn resource set is one of the first. Released almost a decade ago, it’s still a fun resource pack that offers a nice twist to vanilla Minecraft. As the name suggests, the source pack adds textures that are hand-drawn by the creator. It is nothing short of impressive as many textures have been changed. There are new textures for character paintings, new textures for trees, plants, floor tiles, new water textures and many more. There are many new blocks that are made exactly like in the game. There are even new blocks in Mario games that mimic clouds.
All these new textures and blocks allow you to create worlds that resemble levels from Mario. Even the mobs have been changed to be the same as in the game and you can now find them in Minecraft with the Project Mario Hand-Drawn resource pack. The player’s main menu and GUI have also changed. They are more cheerful now. The main menu has yellow buttons with red spots, while the crafting screen is now a light gray color. Finally, another important change was made to player textures. Now you can choose a model that is inspired by Mario games or even play as Mario himself. The models are not very detailed because the textures are at 16x resolution. This is the default vanilla Minecraft resolution. This translates into good gaming performance without frame rate drops.
Project Mario-Hand Drawn should be compatible with all of these Minecraft versions: 1.7.10 - 1.7.9 - 1.7.4 - 1.7 - 1.6.4 - 1.6.2
