Some Minecraft players feel divided with their creations. Do they want their cities to look modern or give them a rustic and classic look? When it comes to resource packs, drastically changing textures can make castles look too modern and skyscrapers too old. For those looking for a comfortable middle ground, look no further than Dem Textures. This texture pack, while relatively new compared to many other packs, does a fantastic job of finding the sweet, sweet middle ground between old and new. For players, this means that their modern cities can look modern and their ancient castles ancient. The best part is that both old and new will look great thanks to the 128x resolution! With such great resolution comes the obvious downside that this texture pack won't run on every system.

While not as much of a hog as the 256x and 512x packs, it is still a heavy pack that some players will find difficult to run on their older machines. Such is the challenge of modding Minecraft. Adding to this challenge is that Demo Textures is compatible with Minecraft 1.8.x. So are Dem Textures worth it? For older systems, the answer is obviously no. Which isn't to say that this texture pack is bad at all, but it just can't run on everyone's system. For gamers who can do this, Dem Textures is definitely worth a look. As mentioned, the end result is a beautiful blend of high-resolution blocks that wouldn't look out of place in a modern city or an old city. This makes the villagers' houses much more attractive to look at and means that the player's mega-skyscrapers won't look too out of place when placed next to their favorite village. How to install the DEM Textures Resource Pack:
- Most source packages require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – a general recommended step for all packages, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
- Download the DEM Textures pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of minecraft that you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
- Launch the game client via the Minecraft launcher.
- Click “Options” in the main menu.
- Click on “Resource Packs…” from the options menu.
- Click “Open Resource Pack Folder”. – a folder named “resourcepacks” will appear.
- Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step into the newly opened “resourcepacks” folder.
- Click “Done”.
- Click on “Resource Packs…” again.
- Your package should appear in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it doesn't affect your game in any way and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by just clicking “Yes” when prompted.
- Click “Done” again.
- The package has now been successfully loaded and is ready to use in your world!
