Echelon source package takes a different approach than other popular texture packs. The default textures in vanilla Minecraft are 16x resolution and that's enough for most players. Blocky visuals make Minecraft recognizable and appreciated. Most resource packs attempt to change the game's identity by upscaling everything in the game from texture resolution to lighting effects and animations. Echelon, on the other hand, aims to improve the visuals in the game without changing Minecraft's identity. It is this approach that has made Echelon a very popular resource pack with hundreds of thousands of downloads. Echelon is a texture pack made for purists and gamers who might want to try something other than vanilla Minecraft. Because it uses the same 16x texture resolution and doesn't introduce high-resolution textures, the source pack doesn't negatively affect framerate.

Also, an important aspect that has been improved is that there is less noise in the textures and it is easy to notice immediately after starting the game. Players with older systems that can run vanilla Minecraft will also be able to enjoy the Echelon resource pack without making compromises. The resource pack focuses on tweaking the visuals in the game. Textures have been polished without increasing the resolution. The colors have also been changed for the better, making Minecraft look more vibrant and colorful. Trees, terrain, blocks, ores, weapons, tools, paintings, flowers and almost every other texture in the game has been improved. All improvements were the result of the work of the original developer RealGoran and adeleine. Adeleine continues to release updates after RealGoran gave up on the project. The Echelon resource pack can be installed like any other resource pack. It can run on older systems because it uses the same resolution textures as vanilla Minecraft and won't affect game performance.

How to install Echelon Resource Pack:
- Most source packages require Optifine, so be sure to download and install it. – a general recommended step for all packages, Optifine is also needed for most shaders
- Download the Echelon texture pack for Minecraft from the download section below. – if there are many different versions, just choose the one you like, is compatible with your version/edition of minecraft that you think your computer can handle in terms of performance.
- Launch the game client via the Minecraft launcher.
- Click “Options” in the main menu.
- Click on “Resource Packs…” from the options menu.
- Click “Open Resource Pack Folder”. – a folder named “resourcepacks” will appear.
- Move the .zip file you downloaded in the first step into the newly opened “resourcepacks” folder.
- Click “Done”.
- Click on “Resource Packs…” again.
- Your package should appear in the left window, just hover over it and click on the arrow pointing to the right.
QUICK TIP: Sometimes when activating a pack, the game may say that the pack is made for a newer or older version of Minecraft. This is just a warning, it doesn't affect your game in any way and you can still activate and enjoy the pack by just clicking “Yes” when prompted.
- Click “Done” again.
- The package has now been successfully loaded and is ready to use in your world!
